With continued growth across the Bourse Group, we’re always on the lookout for bright individuals to join the team and we are currently looking for a Senior Trust and Company Officer to join Bourse Trust Company Limited, where we provide private wealth services covering family office, trusts, employee benefit trusts, foundations and company management.  We also provide individual and company pension administration services.

The successful candidate will play a leading role in maintaining the company’s standards of client service, governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The postholder is expected to act as a trusted point of contact, support or mentor less experienced colleagues, and escalate material issues promptly to directors, compliance, or senior management.

Key responsibilities

Trust & Company Administration

  • Take primary responsibility of a complex portfolio of trust and companies, structures, including establishment, ongoing administration, restructuring, and termination.

  • Review documents, letters of wishes, agreements, and client instructions; identify fiduciary, legal, tax, commercial, and reputational considerations before action is taken.

  • Prepare and review documentation, including minutes, resolutions, trustee decisions, agreements, reports, and correspondence, ensuring an appropriate audit trail.

  • Coordinate meetings and transactions, oversee asset acquisitions and disposals, investments, distributions, loans, and other payments, and ensure actions are properly authorised and completed on time.

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date statutory, accounting, tax, and administration records and ensure all periodic reviews, filings, are completed within deadline.

  • Manage cash requirements, fees, debtors, and service-provider activity across the portfolio, liaising with investment managers, banks, accountants, lawyers, tax advisers, and other specialists as required.

 Client Relationship Management

  •  Act as a principal day-to-day contact for clients, beneficiaries, and professional advisers, building durable relationships based on responsiveness, discretion, and technical credibility.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of each structure’s purpose, assets, family or commercial context, and service expectations so that administration is proactive and appropriately tailored.

  • Lead or support client, trustee, and board meetings; prepare agendas and papers, present matters clearly, record decisions accurately, and drive agreed actions to completion.

  • Anticipate client needs, manage expectations, resolve service issues, and communicate sensitive or complex matters professionally, escalating complaints or significant concerns where appropriate.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure portfolio activity complies with applicable Guernsey legislation, regulatory requirements and guidance, fiduciary duties, governing documents, and the company’s policies and procedures.

  • Own the timely completion and quality of client take-on, periodic reviews, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring, including AML, CDD, source of wealth, source of funds, sanctions, and adverse-information considerations.

  • Identify, assess, document, and monitor fiduciary, regulatory, tax, operational, credit, investment, and reputational risks across the portfolio, implementing controls and escalating exceptions without delay.

  • Prepare or review information for regulatory submissions, audits, compliance monitoring, management reporting, and client review, responding promptly to findings and ensuring remedial actions are completed.

Team Leadership and Operational Oversight

  • Provide day-to-day guidance, technical support, and constructive review to Trust Officers and Administrators, helping to develop capability and maintain consistent standards.

  • Contribute to process improvement, system development, projects, new-business activity, and the effective implementation of changes affecting the fiduciary team.

Experience and qualifications

Educational Requirements: A minimum of A-levels or equivalent. A relevant degree in law, business, finance, accounting, or a related discipline is advantageous.

Professional Qualifications: A relevant professional qualification, such as STEP, CGI/ICSA, ACCA, or an equivalent fiduciary, governance, legal, or accounting qualification, is strongly preferred. Candidates who are substantially progressed towards such a qualification may also be considered.

Experience:

  • Typically, at least five years of relevant experience in trust and company administration within the fiduciary or financial services sector, including demonstrable responsibility for a portfolio of clients and complex structures.

  • Strong working knowledge of trust and company administration, fiduciary principles, corporate governance, and the regulatory and AML/CFT framework applicable to a Guernsey fiduciary business.

  • Experience managing client relationships, handling complex or sensitive matters, meeting deadlines, and coordinating professional advisers and service providers.
