Overview

The Bourse Group has been operating in Guernsey since 1999, specialising initially in acting as a professional trustee and company administrator before expanding into pensions and life insurance. Through its subsidiaries, the Bourse Group holds various licences in Guernsey, Malta and Gibraltar which allow it to offer a suite of different products and services which may be suitable for clients in a number of different circumstances.

The Bourse Group is independently-owned and is led by Simon Bourge, a UK barrister with substantial experience in dealing with the complex and technical issues which commonly arise in the private client and offshore financial services sectors. Amongst its senior management, the Bourse Group retains both lawyers and accountants as well as STEP-qualified professionals, meaning that it is able to deal with challenging and high-quality work whilst its client-focused approach allows Bourse to develop bespoke solutions to specific problems. Across the various Bourse Group companies, the Bourse Group retains approximately 35 staff.

Bourse Trust

Bourse Trust Company Limited (“BTCL”) is licensed by the GFSC to provide fiduciary services. On the basis of this licence, it acts as the trustee of trusts and, through its co-licensee subsidiaries, acts as the corporate director and company secretary of companies in a number of different jurisdictions including Guernsey and BVI.

Bourse Corporate Services (Malta) limited (“BCSM”) is licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority (the “MFSA”) to administer companies incorporated in Malta and it maintains substantial expertise in yacht registrations.

Under its licence, Bourse Trust administers approximately 1750 entities being a combination of trusts and companies.

Bourse Pensions

Bourse Pension Trustees Limited (“BPTL”) is licensed by the GFSC to provide fiduciary services (as the co-licensee of BTCL) and acts exclusively as the pension trustee of all Bourse-administered Guernsey pension schemes which are approved by the Director of Guernsey Income Tax (the Guernsey government entity responsible for reviewing and approving Guernsey pension schemes). These schemes are administered by employees of BTCL.

Bourse Pension Administrators (Malta) Limited (“BPAM”) is licensed by the MFSA to act as the administrator of two pension schemes. Each of these pension schemes were themselves approved by the MFSA as well as being registered with HMRC as a QROPS for the purposes of UK legislation.

Under the Guernsey and Malta-approved schemes, Bourse Pensions administers the pensions of approximately 500 members.

Bourse Life

Bourse Life and Pensions Limited (“BLPL”) is licensed by the GFSC to write long term insurance, specifically annuities and bonds. The GFSC have approved the form of each of these life products and BLPL retains an actuary to review and assess the policies written by BLPL to ensure that BLPL is always compliant with any minimum capital requirements and that they do not compromise the long term solvency or sustainability of the company. As further required by Guernsey insurance law, BLPL maintains all policyholder assets within an independent trustee company, the form of which is approved by the GFSC, with any policy surrenders (and the consequent asset transfer) subject always to the consent of the independent trustee company. The administration of policies written by BLPL is carried out by employees of BTCL.
